Community Health & Well Being

A healthy community with solid support systems is a strong community.

During the COVID crisis, our County took action to quickly vaccinate our residents and build partnerships for additional community-based public health opportunities. As we move out of the public health crisis, it is our duty to ensure that the community is able to build upon the success so that our residents are able to reach their full potential.

Jimmy believes in enhancing our mental health and addiction services programs, both for children and adolescents, as well as for adults. He is committed to fully funding school-based and youth-oriented counseling and health education programs. Schools need to be able handle student health crises, and we need to find ways to lower the counselor to student ratio so that we can identify and support our residents before their health reaches crisis level.

Many county residents live below the Federal Poverty Level and are doing their best to make ends meet despite facing challenges. Providing services and resources to assist the most financially vulnerable members of our community can change the trajectory of someone’s life. Jimmy supports funding for and partnerships with numerous non-profit organizations and county agencies that deliver essential services such as food security, health care, job development, housing, and transportation assistance.
